Knowledge Computing Corporation announced today the release of COPLINK® 4.0. The new version is twice as fast, browser independent and expands the power of the company's award-winning crime fighting and intelligence solution suite with radically advanced GUI visualization, XUL interface, open architecture and localization features.

COPLINK 4.0 begins shipping today and will be unveiled this week to law enforcement agencies at the annual Major City Chiefs Association meeting in Miami, Florida. Major City Chiefs is comprised of fifty-seven law enforcement leaders in the United States and Canada who oversee agencies in metropolitan areas that serve more than 1.5 million citizens and employ more than 1,000 law enforcement officers to support the safety of their communities.

"COPLINK 4.0 will expand the company's opportunities at the state, federal and international level particularly with intelligence initiatives," said Robert Griffin, CEO of Knowledge Computing Corporation. "The new version provides major out of the box enhancements to our award-winning solution suite that allow agencies to rapidly and easily customize the solution to unique operational and intelligence-driven needs."

"The use of XUL cross platform UI features not only allows for COPLINK to be browser independent but also provides COPLINK users with a richer experience and faster localization and product customization tools," said Wojciech Wyzga, Chief Technology Officer for Knowledge Computing Corporation. "Future releases will also be compatible with XAML and Microsoft Windows Vista utilizing their powerful visualization techniques."

COPLINK 4.0 includes the following new advanced features and enhancements:

  • Browser independent

  • XUL and pure Java applet user interface

  • 256 bit AES encryption

  • Compliant with all 28 CFR Part 23 regulations

  • Enhanced speed, performance and streamlined query capability

  • Enhanced GIS mapping analysis, new extensible database schema, and new statistical analysis graphs

  • Advanced GUI tools for visualizing data in multiple new formats with cleaner, more intuitive and personalized capabilities for sorting, viewing and dicing data in unlimited ways

  • Localization interfaces for data in multiple language formats

  • INTEL LEAD® module plug and play

COPLINK provides unparalleled analysis and decision support for rapidly identifying criminal suspects, relationships and patterns that can help solve crime and thwart illegal activity. It works by allowing vast quantities of structured and seemingly unrelated data, currently housed in various incompatible databases and records management systems, to be securely organized, consolidated and rapidly analyzed over a highly secure intranet-based platform.

One search using known or partial facts from an ongoing investigation can produce qualified leads that would otherwise be unapparent in seconds - a process that prior to COPLINK wasn't possible at all or often took days or weeks to accomplish. Through sophisticated analytics, COPLINK builds 'institutional memory,' reduces knowledge gaps and prevents criminals from falling through the cracks.

COPLINK allows agencies to choose from data warehousing, distributed techniques or a combination of both while scaling the solution to respect the preferences of each agency. The solution is architecturally agnostic, allowing every participating agency to return complete consolidated results at the desktop level, and apply the sophisticated analytics and visualization techniques that make COPLINK the most powerful crime-fighting and intelligence analysis solution in the industry.

COPLINK first catapulted into the national spotlight for its proof of concept role following the Montgomery County, Maryland sniper investigation. Today, the solution is in use in over 130 jurisdictions nationwide from Tampa Bay to San Diego helping police officers fight crime and improve community safety.

Winner of numerous awards, COPLINK was recognized twice by the International Association of Chiefs of Police for deployments in Tucson, Arizona and across the State of Alaska. The Center for Digital Government also recognized COPLINK as one of the best of breed and most innovative IT projects undertaken by cities in the nation.
