When
implemented successfully, Knowledge Management automatically and
selectively
delivers the right information to the
right person
at the right time.

Users of KCC
technology are not only able to find information quickly,
easily, and cost effectively, but also get that information in the specific context they require.
It is KCC's mission to
remain focused on
the
Law Enforcement and
e-Justice markets.

The rapid advancement of
information technology produces more information than individuals
or organizations can effectively manage. KCC
technologies combine the powerful disciplines of artificial
intelligence, Knowledge Management and information delivery to
provide business with a comprehensive set of tools for effectively
managing the flood of information.
Knowledge Management is the system and managerial approach to
collecting, processing and organizing enterprise-specific
knowledge assets for business functions and decision-making.
Knowledge Management technologies and methodologies make
high-value corporate information and knowledge easily available to
support decision making at the lowest, broadest possible levels.
Knowledge Management Systems (KMS) complement existing IT
infrastructure and are often superimposed on such
foundational systems as e-portals or search engines. Methodologies
for practicing these new techniques must be developed if they
are to be successful. Two of the most relevant sub-fields within
Knowledge Management are data mining and text mining. Data mining,
which is well known within the IT community, performs various
statistical and artificial intelligence analyses on structured and
numeric data sets. Text mining, a newer field, performs various
searching functions, linguistic analysis, and categorizations.
KCC is well positioned to expand its leadership role in the
growing law enforcement market.
Knowledge assets are represented within law enforcement as a
variety of disparate databases each satisfying a particular need.
Some examples of these disparate databases are Record Management
System(s) (RMS), gang databases, probation and parole databases,
jail management databases and dispatch systems.
Each of these knowledge assets provides information and data
relevant to their classification. The ability to search and
analyze across multiple knowledge assets and return associations
and relationships is proving to be an extremely effective weapon
against crime.
The
results have been organizational enhancements in:
-
problem solving
capabilities in terms of crime, fear, and disorder,
-
improved case
solvability through greater access to knowledge,
-
tools to improve
officer safety,
-
better decision making and subsequent employee job
satisfaction, and
-
a cost-effective way to link and analyze data within
existing stovepipe systems and minimize training requirements.
KCC has incorporated its leading
edge technologies into an in-house developed application suite
called COPLINKŪ. A user may interrogate multiple knowledge
assets with COPLINKŪ returning significant associations and
relationships and clearing criminal cases much faster than with
traditional methods. The COPLINKŪ application suite has been
successfully deployed in multiple police agencies across the
United States with outstanding results. COPLINKŪ is proving that
it really does solve crimes faster. |
